Original bloodwork (4/12) – FSH 6.82, Estradiol 42
Additional bloodwork (4/12) – FSH 7.9, Estradiol 79, LH 3.47, AMH 0.45, Inhibin B 144.7
Diagnosis – Diminished Ovarian Reserve with early follicular recruitment, Male Factor (poor morphology)
Recommendation – IVF/ICSI with aggressive antagonist protocol – given 35% chance of success (Response score of 7-low)
IVF #1 / (IUI #1) 5/12 – Aggressive antagonist protocol – cancelled 6/4 due to lead follicle and poor response. Converted to IUI. IUI done 6/9/12 – 2 mature follicles, 12 million washed sperm, 50% motility. Drugs – BCP for 15 days, 450 iu of Follistim for 3 days, then 375 iu of Follistim, 1 vial Menopur, 1 vial Ganirelix for 8 days, 275 Follistim 1 vial Menopur for 1 day, trigger. (12 days of stims.)
IVF #2 (8/12)- Microdose Lupron flare protocol – cancelled after 5 days due to poor response and bad reaction to Lupron (UPDATE – Lupron was compounded incorrectly)
IVF #3 (but really #1) 9/12- Natural 3 day start protocol – Drugs – 450 iu of Follistim for 3 days, then 375 iu of Follistim, 1 vial Menopur for 3 days. Then 375 iu of Follistim, 1 vial Menopur, 1 vial Ganirelix for 2 days. (8 days of stims). Hcg trigger on Sept. 27. Egg retrieval Sept. 29 – 3 follicles, 2 eggs. 1 egg fertilized. 1 5-cell embryo transfered Oct. 1. BFP – at 10dp2dt. Beta #1 at 12dp2dt (14 dpo) – 12. Beta #2 – at 14dp2dt (18dpo) – 25.1. Beta #3 – 7. Miscarried at 5.5 weeks.
10/12 – Told donor eggs are my only chance. Decided to change clinics.
10/28/12 – started fertility “cocktail” – 2g Myo Insitol x2/day, 200mgCo Enzyme Q10 2x/day, 1 mg folic acid, 25mg DHEA 3x/day, 3mg Melatonin at bedtime, Vitamin D. (In addition to my pre-Natal vitamin and sublingual B-12 supplements)
11/12 – Clomid cycle, 2 mature follicles, BFN
12/12/12 – Phone consult with CCRM
12/17/12 – ODWU at CCRM; Structurally everything is fine, good blood flow to ovaries and uterus. Only 2 follicles.
12/21/12 – Per CCRM visit, AMH has fallen to ~0.1; sister offered to donate her eggs.
3/15/13 – Back to old clinic. AMH 0.15; FSH 7.71; Estradiol 108. Was told I am no longer a candidate for IVF.
4/4/13 – Per donation qualification testing my sister discovered she also has Diminished Ovarian Reserve and is not suitable for donation, nor is she likely to conceive on her own. She will start aggressive IVF in the fall/winter of 2013/2014 after her wedding.
4-9/2013 – Grieving and processing
9/13 – Matched with egg donor; donor had 23 antral follicles during this cycle
10/13 – Started synching cycles
11/2/2013 – Started Lupron shots
11/9/13 – Donor started stims
11/19-24/13 – 12 eggs retrieved; 10 mature; 7 fertilized with ICSI; 5 blasts.
11/24/2013 – Transferred 2 5AA blasts; have 2 4BB blasts and 1 early blast on ice.
11/27/2013 – To get a baseline (just in case) my current weight is 127 lbs, waist is 25 inches, hips are 37.5 inches.
11/28/2013 – BFP!!!! (Very very faint BFP on 11/27 at 3dp5dt, light but obvious BFP at 4dp5dt)
12/3/2013 – Beta #1 – 586!!! (9dp5dt)
12/5/2013 – Beta #2 – 697. (11dp5dt) Not doubling. Not even close.
12/7/2013 – Beta #3 – 3722!! (13dp5dt) No need for more betas!
12/16/2013 – First ultrasound (5 weeks 6 days) – 2 babies with 2 heartbeats!!!
3/22/2014 – 2 baby boys!!
7/27/2014 – 4:36 AM Baby A is born – 7 lbs 6 oz, 21 inches ; 4:37 AM Baby B is born – 7 lbs 1 oz, 21 inches. Both babies are healthy and beautiful! No NICU time needed, only problem is slightly elevated bilirubin levels. Extended hospital stay due to severe postpartum hemorrhaging.

Just found your blog. Our stories are similar. DOR, IVF, CCRM, DE. Except then my journey led me to adoption, my son was born in the fall of 2014. Now we have 4 DE embies and are in the process of deciding what’s next. Hmm, guess I could have just left things at similar….;). I’ll be following along.
